Let’s Start Simple: Braised Cabbage

Cabbage Braised

This is the easiest recipe in the world yet it is filling and delicious. The cabbage has a delicate flavor which is enhanced by the simple addition of salt and pepper.


½ cup vegetable broth or water

2 cups cabbage, chopped to your liking (I like mine chopped thin, you may like chunks)

Salt and black pepper


Bring the liquid to a boil in a skillet or saucepan. Stir in the cabbage. Turn down the heat a bit and cover and cook ‘til tender, about 5 minutes. Sprinkle on the salt and pepper to your taste.

This is one of those dishes you can always add to. I sometimes add all sorts of different beans, noodles, greens like spinach, onion, peppers, or any other vegetable you love and want to include.
